Fairy Tale Story
It is a group project that I believe required a lot of imagination and creativity in order to complete the task because not only did we have to rewrite the story that incorporate and explain the concepts and vocabulary of probability, but we also have to rewrite a story in a way that the readers would still be able to recognize the original work of the author. The hardest part of this project is that we have to write in simple wording that a five-years-old kid would be able to understand. The story we based off of is Cinderella, or The Little Glass Slipper, by Charles Perrault. The story line is very similar to the Cinderella story from Walt Disney; however, there is some violent scenes within the story, so we decided to make it more children appropriate but still keep the main point of the story. We were given about 3 weeks to finish this project and the end product have to include color visual illustration, front cover, as well as the binding of the book. Luckily, we had a very talented artist in our group that is responsible for the drawing, so our end product turned out to be fantastic.
This project is meaningful because it shows our group effort and creative imagination, as well as each individual talents. Although this project seems to be an easy task, but the processes that we have been through in order to produce our final product was very difficult. I was more than proud that our group was able to finish this project on time because each one of us have a completely different schedule and it was hard to communicate through social network sites since some of the group members do not used it. The story also shows our originality, especially through the drawing/ painting.
Before I complete this project, I have never realize how hard it is to write a story for little kids. It was very hard to write a story that is simple and easy to understand, yet interesting, so that we will be able to keep the kids' attention. I also learned how to explain vocabulary and concepts of probability in detailed but still easy to understand.
